10-06-2022 GIVE LIFE A CHANCE: MR YEONG TUCK ON
Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Haemodialysis has supported Mr. Yeong Tuck On, a dialysis patient of Sau Seng Lum Haemodialysis Centre to undergo the arteriovenous fistula ligation procedure. The patient urgently needed treatment due to swelling, inflammation and pus formation on his forearm. Mr. Yeong expresses his gratitude to Sau Seng Lum for the kind deed.
Despite the successful surgery, Mr. Yeong, 35, still needs haemodialysis treatment via a permanent catheter in his chest. After the left hand has recovered, he needs to undergo an arteriovenous fistula surgery on his right forearm before he can continue haemodialysis through his hand again.
“I began my dialysis treatment here in February 2019. Over the years, I truly felt the nurses’ kindness, patience, love, and concern for the patients. They not only taught us to practice self-management and self-care but also care for us, reminding and educating us tirelessly about the importance of diet and a healthy lifestyle.”
Mr. Yeong Tuck On suffered from the discomfort caused by the swelling of his forearm but still faces each day with a smile. Now that the surgery has been completed, Rev. Chang Heng, the President of Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Haemodialysis, was deeply gratified and encouraged him to continue to face life courageously, overcome the challenges and trials of life, and let his life continue to shine.
Since September 1999, Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Haemodialysis has signed a memorandum with the Nephrology Department of the University Malaya Medical Centre, becoming the first non-governmental charity haemodialysis centre to cooperate with the University of Malaya.
On February 26, 2003, Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Haemodialysis was awarded the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System, Healthmark Certification by SGS United Kingdom Ltd, and listed in The Malaysia Book of Records as the first non-government organization to achieve the ISO 9001:2000 in the scope of haemodialysis service.
Professional nurses in this centre are often trained in various ways and strictly adhere to the standards in the delivery of haemodialysis treatment. In addition, the nurses have the latest comprehensive knowledge to provide high-quality services.
To help patients relieve pain and maintain a better quality of life to the greatest extent, the centre insists on using high-quality dialyzers, medicines, etc., and also attaches great importance to the maintenance of dialysis machines. In addition, doctors from the University of Malaya check on patients a monthly basis.
Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Haemodialysis has been adhering to the faith and belief of ‘Give Life A Chance’ and has always been committed to providing high-quality haemodialysis treatment services for patients with kidney disease. The large operating expenses are dependent on support and donations from the public.
Sau Seng Lum sincerely invites the public to turn kind thoughts into actions, gather the collective power of love and kindness, and create a loving and caring society. The accumulative good deeds can help poor patients with end-stage kidney disease relieve their burden, receive timely haemodialysis treatment, and feel the hope of life.
“The contribution and support of the kind-hearted community are immensely precious and meaningful to us. Everyone cares about vulnerable groups together and gives them timely help, lighting their light of aspiration so that they can bravely overcome the difficulties and darkness of life.”
